About…
… Me
Since you are reading this introduction, I must assume that you have some interest in me and what I do. I take my chances where I find them and never miss an opportunity to use an end as a means to an end.
I was born in the United States; I now live in Canada. I am attending the University of Prince Edward Island, where I will receive my Honours in Philosophy in 2013. When I’m not busy with this, I spend my time reading, writing, drinking, smoking, talking, philosophizing, programming, and playing music. My life is by no means cursed.
… My Work
My “work” consists in many things, though the most notable and important is writing. I have been writing off-and-on, semi-seriously since 2005, in which time I have completed several novels, many essays, a handful of short stories, a respectable repertoire of poetry and songs, and some experimental fiction and drama besides.
That aside, I have also been an amateur musician for over 5 years, playing the guitar, the piano, and the blues harp. I write songs and sing when I can.
I have done some web work professionally (PHP), worked with the Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 engines (C++ variant), and generally done all my own web work for the past 5 years (HTML, XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, etc).
… This Site
I have owned this domain name since 2004, and there has always been something of my work here. The site has gone through many iterations, none of which managed to remain constant, because I was always unsure of what I wanted to do and how seriously I wanted to take it.
I suppose the answer to that turned out to be “not very seriously,” which is why I have developed the current version of the site. It is powered by WordPress, and based on the Letterhead theme by Robert Hastings. It is designed to be light and text-heavy, drawing attention and emphasis to the writing while eliminating unnecessary distraction.
The direction of this site, as far as I am concerned, can be as organic as necessary. As of now, I intent on posting some of my written work, old and new, fiction and non-, etc. This may change over time, or I may expand it. As of now, however, I would like to leave it as a simple and lightweight means of communicating a few thoughts with anyone out there interested in reading them.
